Glasses are not unslightly!

I know glasses are not always the most exciting accessories, however it wasn't always this way. The shapes were unusual, striking normally finished with extra details and flashes of colour. The spectacle shapes of the 50's were so fashionable everyone wanted them! Check out this 1950's glasses advert on The Nifty Fifties oh how the times change!! but I find this ad brilliant and the fact that many that they were selling plain lenses glasses as an fashion accessory just to look great! Shows how influential the 50s cat eyes glasses shapes were during that time you would find it difficult to achieve the full look without these amazing glasses!

This one below for an optician that is still in business today! I just love the title 'glasses are not unslightly...in many cases they may actually improve the appearance!!'

These stunningly beautiful ladies couldnt be further apart in generations however they are both wearing a true 40's/50's Spectacles! I do love the very upswept shape of the full frame to the left and she looks like a very trendy and exciting lady to know doesnt she?! Sadly not everyone (me included!) can get away with this extreme shape. The frame on the right is not as upswept and is a half frame style with similar attention detail in the top corners and is slightly deeper and rounder which will suit more face shapes. Both frames do the same job of finishing the look and complimenting the wearers personality and style!

Heres another advert for Be-Bop Glasses right next to relief for drunkenness!

And my new advert! Please let me know what you think of it! The lovely Kate at The Vintage Directory designed it for me and I can't wait to get it printed up!
